Making progress!! :)

So as you know yesterday our truck arrived with our things. yay! I was there until about 2 o'clock when they finished unloading. Holy crap I had no idea we had so much stuff!!! We had 120 items on the check list! The movers said that we had quite a bit considering we moved from a 2 bedroom apartment too. Anyway, by the time they were finished unloading and left, I couldn't do much unpacking because I had to either get back to Madelyn to nurse her or to pump. So I had to leave and when I came back I ended up nursing her and falling asleep with her. It was a much needed nap I must say. I woke up feeling kind of stressed thinking of everything we had to do to even get the house ready for us to stay the night. I finally decided with Robert not getting home from work until after 5 and our beds not being assembled or having a fully stocked kitchen that we better stay at my parents' one more night. This is fine since I know we are making some progress! We ordered pizza (mmmmm- how I missed Marco's) and then went over to the house for a few hours. My parents and Madelyn came along too because we knew Madelyn would be completely content playing in her long lost Jump-er-ROO!!!! She LOVES that thing and is entertained for hours!! My Aunt Sara and the boys came over to help out too. (well mostly to see Madelyn of course!) We were able to clear out a lot of boxes and get them into the basement so there is more room to get around. We also got the bedrooms in order and appliances out in the kitchen. (most of them) I have been working on painting the living room and it still needs the second coat but that can wait a couple of days. I also need to paint the bedrooms and I can't wait to see the end product. I must say I am a BA painter considering it's my very FIRST time tackling such a task!!!

Oh yeah and everything arrived as far as we know with the exception of our couch being broken. I'm not sure yet if this is a going to upset me or make me happy. Robert still has to call about the insurance and find out what the verdict is. The movers said they will replace it but since it's not their job to do that kind of stuff- they don't know exactlly what "replace it" entails. I hope we don't get screwed over!!!!

I am heading over to work on more unpacking today and hopefully everything gets finished:) Our friends, The McKenney's were so nice to have invited us over for dinner tonight, so we are excited about that! It really worked out with perfect timing since we have an empty kitchen:) Madelyn can't wait to see Maeve and all of her new tricks she has to show us!!

Moving Day, Moving Day!!!!...again

So we got the call.....and tomorrow morning we can expect a truck full of our stuff to arrive!!! Robert will be at work so of course it's just me and the movers:) I suppose I have my work laid out for me for the next couple of days! I can't wait to finally be settled in and get on with life and catch up with friends we have missed over the last year! :)

On a better note...

Happy Thoughts, Happy Thoughts:

We are back in Michigan!!!!!
BUT...
We are waiting on the moving truck to get here and so far we have had nothing by bad luck. There is some good news though....:)
Robert took a job at Commonwealth Associates Inc., which if you don't know has nothing to do with the Commonwealth building that we had our wedding reception at. Anyway, he took this job as a Civil engineer and we were fortunate enough that they have paid for all of our moving expenses; the truck, hotel, gas, boxes, everything:) Now, we were supposed to get out stuff picked up on a Thursday- they didn't show. We had a heck of a time getting ahold of customer service and finally getting them to send someone out. They said they would be there on Friday. So they came about 5:30 that night. Keep in mind we only lived in a 2 bedroom apartment....They got to our place, wrapped our things and loaded the truck and....7 HOURS LATER they were finally finished!!!!! Holy crap!!! You'd think we had enough things to fill a 10 bedroom house with how long they took. They were sooo slow and didn't get on the road until almost midnight!! We had planned to split the drive up into 2 days of about 6-7hours each. We got on the road at midnight and stayed at a hotel about 30 minutes closer to Michigan. So yep that meant we had a loooong day of driving ahead of us. We had no idea how this was going to work with a 5 month old and 2 cars. This meant I would be driving the whole way and so would Robert. It took us 14 hours to get home and we were so ready to be back at almost 11 o'clock that night! Surprisingly, Madelyn did pretty good considering it was 14 hours of sitting in her carseat, with a few stops along the way:)She's a real trooper! Oh and she only slept like 2 hours the entire trip, which I was surprised by because she usually sleeps whenever we are in the car. We had to get off a couple of times because she was screaming and just wanted out of that darn seat, but I don't blame her. Plus, it's gotta be boring sitting back there, staring out the back window with no faces to see
:(
Okay about that good news I mentioned at the beginning. We haven't paid a single penny outselves to this moving company and they have just screwed us over this whole time right? Well their contracted date to deliver our things was last Friday the 20th. Robert found out from his whoever at work that by law they have to pay us a standard amount of money per day to cover cost of living, for every day they are over in their contract to us. So the good news is that we are now profitting $110 a day as long as we don't have our things here:) So far we are at $440. Commonwealth will still pay out the remaining balance to the movning company but we get this money for our own use:) So we have actually made some money off of this trip! I just don't know how much longer I can go without having my own space ya know?
I hear Madelyn waking up so I will end on that good note.

(oh and I will put up pics as soon as I get my computer back which is in the truck too)

Inflation....riiiight

Okay so I have been reading blogs of friends lately and have been inspired to jump on that bandwagon and start blogging reglularly. It was so hard when I was working and barely having time to even sit down to enjoy dinner. So here I am....promising to keep up. (at least for the summer) hahah

Things on my mind lately......
1. MONEY MONEY MONEY (or lack there of)
2. Getting our stupid moving truck to Michigan so we can move out of my parents!!

I woke up early this morning with Robert, mainly because I had to iron his clothes for work but when I did I sat down with my dad and we had a conversation that got me all fired up. Not at him, just about the issues we have to face these days. I have never really paid much attention to the rising costs of gas or I guess even cared for that much. I just filled up each week and even though my vehicle would continually take more and more as the weeks went on, it was what it was. But seriously now- WHAT THE HECK!?!?! It's been a few years and all it does is get more and more expensive. When will it stop? We aren't seeing these kinds of drastic increases in our salaries so what is going to happen? When will enough, be enough? It feels like before long I will just be working so I can pay for my gas to get around!!! We all know that teachers make a whole grand whopping what?- 35 grand a year! This just sucks. When I got my license 9 years ago (wow!- I'm old) it took me all of $12 to fill up my gas tank and now with an Escape it takes almost 6x that! It's so ridiculous! It won't be long and I'm going to be paying over $100 just to fill up a small SUV. It's scary to think about and with groceries getting more expensive too....:(
Oh blah now I am just more pissed....
